Lytheside Cottage is a family-run traditional farmhouse cottage located near the village of Ravenstonedale in Cumbria. We enjoy an idyllic setting in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Lytheside is surrounded by stunning Cumbrian fells on all sides and is an ideal base for anyone wishing to explore the nearby countryside, the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District National Park. In addition to it being a perfect holiday destination in its own right the cottage is also perfectly placed for a stop-over en-route to Scotland for one night or more.
Well behaved dogs are very welcome.
Please ring to check availability. We offer a friendly chat with no commitment. Our preference is to talk to our guests to ensure that all their wishes are met and that all arrangements are in place to ensure a pleasant and satisfying stay.

We normally operate Lytheside on a bed and breakfast basis with the option to have dinner but we also offer the cottage as a self-catering unit for weekend breaks or longer.
Most of our guests ask for dinner. Food is always served at the dining table, next to the wood burning stove in the cottage, at a time suited to guests. We endeavour to provide our guests with home-bred, home-grown or locally sourced produce. There is always a vegetarian option on request. Guests are welcome to bring their own wine or spirits if required.

The walking from Lytheside Cottage is stunning. From our own front door you can walk straight out onto the Howgill Fells, Ash Fell or Wild Boar Fell to enjoy wild and unspoiled countryside. The surrounding fells are a haven for wild flowers, animal and bird life. In spring time, the surrounding fells and fields are alive to the sound of Curlew and Oyster Catcher and later into the summer you can hear Snipe drumming from the bedroom window. The Lake District fells and the Yorkshire Dales lie within a 30 minute drive.
Lytheside Cottage is just 15 minutes from the M6 junction 38. The proximity of the M6 and the A66 make day trips to such places as Durham, Newcastle and York easy, all lying within an easy hour and half drive. Lytheside is a great place for a stop-over for anyone en-route to and from Scotland.
